Shortly after midnight on the first expedition day, the guests were awakened by the guides – whales in sight! Whales in sight!
In the soft midnight light and mirror-like sea just west of Bellsund, we had humpback whales, fin whales, and blue whales in the same view. An incredible experience! We could clearly hear the whale blows and several humpback whales came close to M/S Stockholm. We got to see when these 18m long baleen whales open their huge mouth in search of crustations in the cold and nutritious water. What a night and start to our expedition!
