Henrik Törnberg
Operations Manager Svalbard & GuideHenrik became a part of PolarQuest in 2018 as Operation Manager and works "behind the scenes" with safety and logistics for our guests and guides. The polar bug has firmly taken hold of him, and he guides a number of trips each year to get out and experience the nature he is so fascinated by.
Henrik is a true Arctic enthusiast. After a few years in the Swedish mountain regions, he moved to Svalbard in 1998, where he studied Arctic geoscience at the university, worked as a guide, and was also actively involved as an operational leader for the volunteer rescue service of the Red Cross. Henrik guided ski expeditions, snowmobile tours, hikes, kayaking trips, and dog sledding tours, becoming very familiar with Svalbard and the Arctic nature throughout all seasons.
In 2004, Henrik changed his base camp from Svalbard to the Tarfala Glacier Research Station at the foot of Kebnekaise in Swedish Lapland. He lived there 5 months a year, 25 kilometers into roadless terrain at an altitude of 1100 meters, leading the field program for glacier research as well as the operation of the station. In 2011, it was time for new challenges as a research engineer at the Swedish Polar Research Secretariat, where Henrik was responsible for the Swedish research stations Wasa and Svea in Antarctica. He organized, participated in, and led research expeditions both in the Arctic and to Antarctica.

Preferably, the work I do should not be noted on board. PolarQuest set very high standards and want to be top of the class in every single detail. And I think we have succeeded with that.
