This was another day of extraordinary experiences in Northern Norway, from whale watching to exploring the charming Langfjordhamn, culminating in the awe-inspiring sight of the Northern Lights.
Following a long and exhilarating day spent whale watching with our guide team, another outstanding day was concluded onboard M/S Stockholm.
As the light faded, the ship sailed towards a destination unknown. Langfjordhamn. A tiny gathering of mostly uninhabited houses at the end of a long, narrow fjord, it looked like the perfect setting for a night with Northern Light.
The ship came alongside the small wooden pier, and the moon rose and shone in all its full glory. As the guides trekked out and stomped a path with snowshoes in the deep snow during dinner, the guests enjoyed another set of delicious victuals.
After dessert had been enjoyed, everyone set out along the path laid out by the guides Christian and Beau. But patience is a virtue not possessed by many. Under the shining stars and moon, people gradually returned to the ship, one by one, drawn back by the cozy warmth of the lounge and the allure of a fine whiskey.
But not everyone. The few who dared brave the cold biting into their flesh, were rewarded with a fullshow from mother nature. Northern lights.
Shimmering green, from soft tones to strong shades, it shifted from one end of a mountain range to another, as everyone gazed in awe at the magnificence of nature.
The far north has incredible beauty.
